Why I ride// A RARE TIME
On my bike, I slow down.
This is rare.
I used to ride my bike like it was a car. From one place to another.
My friend showed me the joy in riding slow and stopping when something catches your eye. A horse seen from the road, a brewery on the lefthand side, the world expands and then contracts down to the smallest detail.
Even with steep climbs, rain, or legs that want to quit; it’s hard to describe the feeling you’ll often get.
It’s like becoming yourself again.
My friend Evan showed me how to travel by bike.

I bought this steel bike in 2020 from Landyachtz, a Vancouver-based bike builder. I didn’t like the colour. I dreamt of pale yellow or cream, but the great bike shortage of 2020 had other plans. With some intentional upgrades over the years, I’ve grown to embrace it’s stoicism.
